How do I wear my wig for the first time?

  1. Remove wig from the plastic bag. Gently remove the protective hair net from your wig. Give your wig a few good shakes to separate the fibres and give some body to the hair. Some wigs need to be shaken to release the pre-set styling.
  2. Brush your hair off your face at the top and sides. If your hair is too long, you may want use pins to help keep it off and away from your face, back at the sides, you can also use use a wig liner or wig cap to keep their existing hair in place. If you don't have one try an old stocking or cut an old pair of tights in half, it will work just as well as a wig cap.
  3. Hold your wig at the sides with the woven label in back. Place it at your natural hairline and slide it on from front to back. Adjust the wig as needed so the front edge is just over your natural hairline. Use the ear tabs to centre your wig from left to right. If the wig is too tight undo the hooks at the base of the neck and try again. If the wig is too loose move the hook up a level and retry the wig - repeat until comfortable.
  4. Tuck in any stray hairs at the front, sides and nape. Use a soft brush to style.



Can I cut my wig?

Yes, however if you are considering cutting or thinning your wig, we highly recommend you take your wig to an experienced hairstylist who will advise you on styling and cutting.


Can I colour my wig?

Our wigs come in may different shades and we do not recommend colouring your wig with dyes or bleach. This may damage the fibre of the wig and ruin it.


How do I store my wig?

The best way to store your wig is on a wig stand. Not only does this help prevent your wig from becoming tangled or soiled between wearing, it also helps to maintain your wig's style and shape. Ideally, your wig should be stored in a clean, dry place, away from dust and sources of high heat or flame. If you do not have a wig stand always store your wig turned inside out and place it in an old shoe box or similar.

 

How do I wash my wig?

Ideally the best way to wash your wig is in luke warm water with a very mild baby shampoo or specially manufactured wig shampoo and conditioner.

Gently swish the wig in the solution of shampoo and water. Do not rub the wig harshly. Refill the basin and rinse your wig in conditioner and cold water. Finally rinse through with luke warm water and allow to dry naturally. Do not stretch the wig during washing or drying. Restyle the wig on your head with a soft brush.

How do I know if a wig will fit?

Our wig sizing will fit 90% of adult head sizes. The average size ebing 22.5 inches in circumference. All our kanekalon wigs are unisex adjustable sizing. If you have any questions please call or email us.

Pleace a tape measure around the widest part of you head and measure the circumference, it;s it's under 24 inches you will find all our wigs comfortable,

Can I use heat appliances on my wig?

As of March 2010 all our synthetic hair fibre wigs are predominately made with heat friendly fibre. The few exceptions being occassional highlights wher the colours are not available in heat friendly fibre. The new fibre enable you to use heat appliances [ curls / tong/ straighten/ blow dry ] up to 170 degrees to style your wig.

Where does your Human Hair come from?

MissTresses has a trusted source of human hair. We utilize Chinese, Mongolian and occassionally European hair in various forms and use the same sourced hair in our lace and human hair wigs. We do not buy cheap heavily processed human hair from unreliable or dubious sources.

Human Hair Vs Synthetic Fibre?

Some people don't like the thought of using human hair and with the current developments in fibre production the synthetic hair is of very high quality. Heat friendly fibre enable you to style wigs and hair pieces to your liking. Human hair wigs, pieces and extensions will last longer than synthetic fibre if carefully looked after but, for cost effectiveness, syntheic fibre is much more purse friendly.
